For my first course, I ordered the sea scallops with a pumpkin purée and a saffron clam veloute. I won’t bore you with all 12 different dishes, but may highlight a few that i did not have. To go thru a 7 course meal in 1 hr and 15 min says it all, and 48 hours later we still are not over the immense disappointment and profound feeling of being ripped off. The sea bass was inedible, and the entire time we just felt that they wanted to turn the table over (even though it was not full, and we were not eating at prime time). When the food came out, it was luke warm and under-whelming, and the pacing was completely off- we had barely put down our utensils, when the next plate was already arriving. They refused to open a special bottle we'd bought for that evening anticipating they'd charge us a steep corkage fee, but that is not an option there- the sommelier told us it is a "union issue" even though we've been to other Michelin-rated restaurants and never encountered that before. Our glasses were poured in about 90 seconds, and then we felt pressured and rushed to make a wine and menu choice. Our displeasure started as soon as we walked in, before we even got settled in & our waiter immediately wanted to know what kind of water we wanted. The only choice we had was for one course, either fish or beef, everything else was pre-determined at over $125/person, not including wine. When Plume called to confirm our reservation, no one warned us that it was a prix-fix meal with a limited menu. At least the bill for fast food at McD's and their service would not have been in. Having made reservations a month in advance for this Michelin-rated, romantic restaurant for Valentine's Day, we unfortunately left there wondering why we did not just go to McDonald's.
